Hoists and winches
Hoists and winches have similar functions - they are cranes whose job is to move a load vertically. Usually done by means of a rope or chain with the help of a gripping element, which may be a hook. Structurally, these devices are usually adapted to run on a stationary running track or in a stationary version, ensuring work in one place.
Hoists
As mentioned earlier, a hoist is a lifting device. It belongs to the group of hoists. It is characterized by a compact construction and usually small dimensions. Hoists can be divided into those with manual drive and those with motor drive. They are usually used in industry as they provide efficient short-distance transportation.
Winches
A winch is an equipment very similar in construction and function to hoists. However, they differ in design. In case of hoists, the casing of lifting mechanism is its supporting structure. On the other hand, hoists have a set of mechanisms installed on a separate supporting structure, which may be a fixed, sliding or mobile frame.
